TFT Set 18 Executioner Guide: Executioner Emblem and Best Comps

TFT Set 18 Executioner Guide: Executioner Emblem and Best Comps

@tft=set18:trait:DA_18_Executioner@ is the crit trait of Set 18. It lets your Executioners' abilities critically strike, and from 3 it makes enemies bleed for extra true damage. Only five champions have it, so most boards take 2 for the crits and spend the rest of their slots elsewhere.

One board goes all the way to 4, and it gets there with the @tft=set18:item:DA_18_EmblemExecutioner@. This guide covers how the trait works, how to build the emblem and who should hold it, the comps that play Executioner, and how to play the 4 Executioner board.

Quick answer. 2 @tft=set18:trait:DA_18_Executioner@ gives your Executioners Precision, so their abilities can crit, plus 15% Critical Strike Chance. 3 adds a bleed for 25% bonus true damage over 3 seconds, and 4 raises it to 35%. The five Executioners are @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Yunara@, @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Azir@, @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Ezreal@, @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Soraka@ and @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Kennen@. Build the @tft=set18:item:DA_18_EmblemExecutioner@ from a @tft=set18:item:DA_Component_FryingPan@ and @tft=set18:item:DA_Component_SparringGloves@, and give it to a caster carry who isn't an Executioner, like @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Ahri@. The comp that plays 4 is Executioner Blossom Sett, a fast 8 board with Ahri as the carry.

How does Executioner work in TFT?

@tft=set18:trait:DA_18_Executioner@ is a class with breakpoints at 2, 3 and 4. Each one stacks on the one before it.

Executioner

Bonus for your Executioners

2

Precision and 15% Critical Strike Chance

3

Enemies also bleed for 25% bonus true damage over 3 seconds

4

The bleed goes up to 35%

Precision is the part that matters most. Normally only attacks can crit. With Precision, ability damage can crit too, which is why the trait fits casters like @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Ezreal@, @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Soraka@ and @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Azir@. If a champion already has Precision, every extra source only adds 10% Critical Strike Damage.

Patch 18.4 cut the bleed from 30% and 40% to 25% and 35%. Riot paired the nerf with a small buff to Ezreal, whose small cast went from 250/375 AD to 270/405 AD. Riot said his success leaned too much on boards that paired him with @tft=set18:item:DA_18_EmblemExecutioner@ carries.

Most boards stop at 2. Our Executioner stats show 2 is by far the most played breakpoint, and the few boards that reach 4 place best.

Executioner champions

There are five Executioners, from a 2-cost to a 5-cost.

The comp names can mislead you. @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_KhaZix@ and @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Sett@ aren't Executioners. In those comps the trait comes from Ezreal and Soraka, and on the Sett board from Yunara and the emblem too.

The @tft=set18:trait:DA_18_Sprykin@ board rolls at level 7 for 3-star @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Azir@ and @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Rammus@, and our Sprykin guide covers it in full. The Kha'Zix reroll and Elderwood Draven both get their Executioners from @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Ezreal@, and our Elderwood guide covers both. The next section covers the Sett board as it stood in patch 18.4, because it's the one built around the trait.

Executioner Blossom Sett

This is the 4 @tft=set18:trait:DA_18_Executioner@ comp. @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Yunara@, @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Ezreal@ and @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Soraka@ give you 3, and the @tft=set18:item:DA_18_EmblemExecutioner@ on @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Ahri@ makes 4. Yunara, Ahri and @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Sett@ add 3 @tft=set18:trait:DA_18_Blossom@, and @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Ornn@, Ezreal and @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Alistar@ add 3 @tft=set18:trait:DA_18_Elderwood@. @tft=set18:unit:DA_Fiddlesticks18@ is the second tank.

Ahri is the carry. Her spirit bomb hits the biggest group of enemies, and with Precision each enemy it hits can take a crit. Ezreal and Soraka are the second and third damage sources, and Sett holds the front line.

When to play it

Play it when your shops give you @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Sett@, @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Ezreal@ and @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Ahri@ upgrades and your items fit them. The strongest openers are a 2-star Sett, a 2-star Ezreal, or a board that already runs @tft=set18:trait:DA_FloraFatalis18@. An early @tft=set18:item:DA_Component_FryingPan@ is the best item sign, and Tears come next, because the board's items need more of them than any other component.

Three augments fit the comp well.

  • @tft=set18:augment:DA_CookingPot@. It gives you a Frying Pan. Add a @tft=set18:item:DA_Component_SparringGloves@ and you have the emblem.

  • @tft=set18:augment:DA_BacklineBlueprint@. It gives you a 3-cost champion who isn't a tank, plus the emblem of that champion's class.

  • @tft=set18:augment:DA_18_BigGrabBag@. It gives you 3 random components, 2 gold and a @tft=set18:item:DA_Reforger@. Random components suit this board, because its 12 items use nine different components.

Your early board keeps @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Yunara@, and most openers also run @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Ornn@. Both stay to the end, along with @tft=set18:unit:DA_Fiddlesticks18@ once you add him. Fill the gaps with @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Rakan@, @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Yorick@ and @tft=set18:unit:DA_Karma18@, and sell them as the 4-costs come in.

Items
  • Ahri: @tft=set18:item:DA_18_EmblemExecutioner@, @tft=set18:item:DA_BlueBuff@, @tft=set18:item:DA_RabadonsDeathcap@.

  • Ezreal: @tft=set18:item:DA_Deathblade@, @tft=set18:item:DA_LastWhisper@, @tft=set18:item:DA_SpearOfShojin@.

  • Sett: @tft=set18:item:DA_GargoyleStoneplate@, @tft=set18:item:DA_SpiritVisage@, @tft=set18:item:DA_WarmogsArmor@.

  • Soraka: @tft=set18:item:DA_ArchangelsStaff@, @tft=set18:item:DA_RabadonsDeathcap@, @tft=set18:item:DA_SpearOfShojin@.

Build items early and park them on holders until your carries show up. @tft=set18:unit:DA_Karma18@ or @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Veigar@ holds Ahri's items. @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Yunara@ or @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Varus@ holds Ezreal's, and @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Ornn@ or @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Yorick@ holds Sett's.

Counting the recipes, those 12 items take 6 @tft=set18:item:DA_Component_TearOfTheGoddess@, 5 @tft=set18:item:DA_Component_NeedlesslyLargeRod@, 4 @tft=set18:item:DA_Component_BFSword@, 3 @tft=set18:item:DA_Component_GiantsBelt@, 2 @tft=set18:item:DA_Component_SparringGloves@, and one each of @tft=set18:item:DA_Component_FryingPan@, @tft=set18:item:DA_Component_ChainVest@, @tft=set18:item:DA_Component_NegatronCloak@ and @tft=set18:item:DA_Component_RecurveBow@. Blue Buff alone takes two Tears, and Shojin, Archangel's and Spirit Visage each take one more.

Flex and substitutions

If you can't find @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Alistar@, play @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_GnarSmall@ in his slot. Gnar is @tft=set18:trait:DA_18_Elderwood@ too, so you keep the plants. With a ninth slot, add @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Kennen@ next to either one. He's a fifth @tft=set18:trait:DA_18_Executioner@, but 4 is the top breakpoint, so he's there for his damage.

How to make the Executioner Emblem

The @tft=set18:item:DA_18_EmblemExecutioner@ builds from a @tft=set18:item:DA_Component_FryingPan@ and a @tft=set18:item:DA_Component_SparringGloves@. It gives its holder the @tft=set18:trait:DA_18_Executioner@ trait, and the holder's damage executes enemies below 8% of their max Health.

Every copy needs a Frying Pan, so take one when a carousel or an augment like @tft=set18:augment:DA_CookingPot@ offers it.

Who should hold the Executioner Emblem?

Give it to a carry who casts often. The holder joins your @tft=set18:trait:DA_18_Executioner@ count and gains Precision, which lets abilities crit, so a caster gets the most from it.

  • @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Ahri@. She's the holder in Executioner Blossom Sett. Her spirit bomb hits a group, so Precision lets it crit several enemies at once.

The emblem fits best in a comp that already runs 3 Executioner. That's what takes the Sett board from 3 to 4. On a 2 Executioner board it only makes 3, which adds the bleed but not the full 35%.

Supercritical Wisp

@tft=set18:wisp:TFT18_Wisp_Supercritical@ costs 2 gold and shows up once you have a champion with Precision. Every ally with Precision gains 25% Critical Strike Damage, and the upgrade raises that to 40%.

On a 4 @tft=set18:trait:DA_18_Executioner@ board, that's four of your champions, and three of them are carries. Every Wisp and its cost is on our Set 18 Wisps list.

Common Executioner mistakes

  • Building Jeweled Gauntlet or Infinity Edge on an Executioner. @tft=set18:item:DA_JeweledGauntlet@ and @tft=set18:item:DA_InfinityEdge@ both give Precision, which every @tft=set18:trait:DA_18_Executioner@ already has, so the second Precision only adds 10% Critical Strike Damage. The comp data shows this. @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Ezreal@ and @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Soraka@, the two Executioner carries on the Blossom Sett board, build neither item.

  • Selling Yunara early. She's the cheapest Executioner, and she stays on the final Sett board. Upgrade her instead of replacing her.

  • Stopping at level 8. The Sett board's level 8 version averages 4.65, while the level 9 version that adds @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Alistar@, @tft=set18:unit:DA_18_Kennen@ and @tft=set18:trait:DA_18_Elderwood@ averages 2.85. Once your 2-stars are in, push to 9 instead of rolling out your gold at 8.
